Reports to: Board of Trustees through the Chairman of RNIB
To provide inspirational leadership to the RNIB Group, setting strategic goals and clear direction and engaging all stakeholders for effective delivery.
Responsibility for overall delivery of RNIB Group’s strategic plan.
Line Management of the following roles:
Executive Director of Services
Executive Director of Relationships
Executive Director of Advocacy
Executive Director of Corporate Services
Managing Director, RNIB Solutions
Head of Business Intelligence and Customer Experience
Overall financial responsibility for the RNIB Group’s budget.
Decision making responsibility
Decisions have critical impact on organisational strategy and focus.
With the Chair and Board of Trustees, determine and lead RNIB’s strategic direction, ensuring this remains dictated by the needs of blind and partially sighted people and work with the Executive team to deliver our business plan successfully.
Provide visionary leadership to RNIB Group, living our values to ensure employees and staff are engaged with our strategic aims and motivated to deliver them.
Ensure that financial processes and controls are in place to support financial security, sustainability and compliance and to manage financial risk.
Monitor and review the strategy and financial budget, reporting on performance against agreed objectives on a regular basis.
As the primary ambassador for blind and partially sighted people and for RNIB, represent the organisation externally and work in partnership with external organisations to make daily life better for people affected by sight loss.
Lead, develop and motivate a high-performing Executive team to deliver RNIB’s mission through their directorate teams.
Ensure that all of RNIB’s activity is dictated by the needs of blind and partially sighted people, role modelling a truly customer-focused approach and working with the Exec to ensure that this is the default way of operating.
Ensure RNIB is compliant in all legal aspects including health and safety legislation, employment legislation, safeguarding and the regulatory framework for charities.
Provide oversight and strategic leadership of organisational change, ensuring RNIB remains equipped to respond to external challenges and remains relevant to blind and partially sighted people as their needs and society evolve.
Be the custodian of RNIB’s brand and reputation, protecting this and working to enhance it externally.
Drive organisational change to help create a culture where RNIB Group puts customers at its heart and delivers the right services at the right time to more people.
The postholder will also be expected to undertake any other duties commensurate with the post and adhere to RNIB policies and procedures at all times.
